Christian Louboutin

Christian Louboutin has been wooing womens' bank cards for decades with his sexy, fun and flirty shoe designs. Although now a global fashion icon, his love for shoes began in 1979 on the streets of Paris. Whilst walking to school he noticed a placard that instructed women not to scratch the wooden floor of a museum with high heeled shoes. Louboutin was irritated by this sign and out of sympathy for the chic Parisian women, he started designing shoes that had compressed buckles and softer soles. These early designs became the fore-runners of many of his later works.

Having been inspired by the world of womens' footwear, he attended designing schools like Chanel's and Saint Laurent's, and soon after he opened his own boutique in Paris. It was here he developed the shoes trademark red lacquer sole, as during one of his runway shows, Louboutin felt his pieces needed something extra, and he used one of his employee's red Chanel nail polishes to 'complete' the look. Since then it has become the signature of his designs.

Hundreds of celebrities have been seen wearing his creations; everyone from Angelina Jolie to Madonna to Christina Aguilera has worn them in music videos, films and to premieres as they elongate the legs and come in such fun colours. The shoes have even become the stars of an exhibition as Louboutin has collaborated with famous director David Lynch to create the "Fetish" collection which is on show at the Passebon Gallery.

But don't worry if you're not a global film star, these beautiful creations are also available for people like us! Try a pair and feel your waist size decrease, your bum wiggle and your voice drop a husky octave. There is no doubt that these shoes make you the sexy minx you always wanted to be (or at least feel like you're the sexy minx you always wanted to be). Although you'll be hard pressed to find a pair under £150, the shoes are always flying off the shelves as they are classic wardrobe staples for every fashionista.

Some of the celebs' favourites are the Christian Louboutin Privatita platform slingbacks, which come in a whole range of colours from lipstick red to Kermit green. The Archtitek leather slingbacks are a more sophisticated, office-friendly version of the Privatita's and the lace-up spikey boots from the Autumn/Winter range are also must-haves to create the slightly gothic sex appeal of the season. In reality, it doesn't matter which pair you buy, you will feel like a star in any pair.

Although there are 5 main boutiques in London, New York, Hong Kong, Beverley Hills and Boston, most of the shoes sales are done on the internet and you can easily find Louboutins at many online stores. What are you waiting for?
